Director of Operations

99Degrees launched in April 2013 and is making waves in the apparel manufacturing industry with exceptional turn times and custom me-commerce manufacturing capabilities. With customers like Williams Sonoma, New Balance, Polartec, and Wild Things, we are building a next-gen apparel manufacturing solution, based in the US. 99Degrees Custom is hiring an exceptional Director of Operations to join our growing team. The Director of Ops is charged with systematizing and optimizing our operations as we scale, applying lean principles across our facility, and enhancing key systems through technology solutions.

Responsibilities:
- Work directly with 99Degrees Custom’s President to inform and strengthen our operations strategy, capabilities, systems, and production practices.
- Head production planning. Manage production process from purchase order receipt to shipment. Communicate production milestones to customers.
- Oversee production team including Production and Quality Manager, Cutting Manager, and Operations Assistant. Hold managers accountable to production, quality, cost and safety goals.
- Catalyze and lead optimization efforts to improve efficiencies, throughput, and turn times. Oversee managers’ implementation on production floor. Measure impact.
- Coordinate and manage external consultants, engineers, and advisors to strategically apply lean principles internally. Serve as lead on lean efforts.
- Evaluate current processes and systems. Strengthen, optimize and recommend technology-based solutions, where appropriate.
- Advise on most effective ERP and OMS for our needs. Prepare systems, budget, and team for technology launch.
- Model lean thinking, collaborative leadership, appreciation for bottom-up feedback, and proactive problem solving to all members of our team.

Experience and skills:
- 5-7 years of manufacturing/operations experience
- Lean transformation experience and/or certification is strongly preferred. Apparel manufacturing experience is a plus but not required.
- Process-orientation and systems thinking. Track record of optimization.
- Advanced Excel capabilities. Ability to build operations and costing models with advanced formulas and use excel as an optimization tool.
- Willingness and ability to learn new software programs as needed (barcoding, shipping, OMS, etc).
- Thrives in a startup environment. Ability to wear multiple hats and multi-task.

- Comfort communicating with non-English speakers. Spanish language skills are an asset.

- Full time. Hours of operation M-Th 7:45-4:45. F: 7:45-2:15
