Job Information
The engineer will work with others on the team to design and implement a control system for the micro-gas-turbine power generator, integrate micro-turbine control and power electronics control systems, and optimize control system design for production units. The engineer must be familiar with programmable logic controllers, data acquisition systems, embedded electronics integration, and power electronics. Furthermore, the engineer will provide background knowledge for other electrical components of the generator system, including electric motors, energy storage, and other power system hardware.

Experience in engine control and/or Oil & Gas industry control systems is ideal. A successful candidate must have strong leadership skills and work ethic, detail-oriented approach to problem solving, and familiarity with relevant fields of mechanical engineering. As the primary controls and electrical engineer for an early stage company, you will be able to contribute significantly to the growth of the company.

This position is a key hire and you will be responsible for working with the founders to develop key engineering practices and build a world class product.


- Work with engineering team in the development and refinement of control system and electrical system for pilot units of the power generator
- Design manufacturing, assembling, and programming procedures for the control and electrical portions of the pilot systems
- Conduct tests of pilot components and validate performance
- Work independently with guidance from the Chief Engineer
- Contribute innovative ideas to improve not only the product, but also the work place and company culture

Required Skills:

- A sense of dauntless adventure and unbridled optimism
- 5-10 years engineering experience
- Strong sense of self-motivation and ability to work independently
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and team work skills
- Familiarity with PID controller design and implementation, PLC hardware and programming
- Familiarity with communications protocols and standards (e.g. RS 232, RS 485, Modbus, cellular)
- Familiarity with determining I/O requirements
- Likes working with their hands
- Familiarity with a variety of electrical tools and prototyping processes.
- Desired Skills/Experience (Should have 3 of the 6 listed below)

Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering background

- Engineering Master’s Degree
- Leadership experience with small teams
- Previous experience in a start-up environment
- Experience with power systems controls and power electronics controls
- Experience with gas turbine systems and gas turbine control
- Experience with embedded controls
