The Principal Product engineer will work with the Chief Engineer to make decisions, apply engineering and business acumen, and solve complex issues related to the micro gas turbine power generator balance of plant. This position provides the opportunity to work on projects that span several disciplines within mechanical engineering as well as other engineering disciplines.

The engineer will work with others on the team to coordinate the packaging, safety, certifications, operations, installation and servicing of the micro gas turbine generator for use in the upstream oil and gas industry. The engineer must be familiar with relevant industry standards and practices, and must have experience working with third parties. A successful candidate must have strong leadership skills and work ethic, detail-oriented approach to problem solving, and familiarity with relevant areas of mechanical engineering.

As a primary development engineer for an early stage company, you will be able to contribute significantly to the growth of the company. This position is a key hire and you will be responsible for working with the founders to develop key engineering practices and build a world class product.


- Work with engineering team and customers to define the product specification, including sizing, weight, mechanical interface with field equipment, safety, etc.
- Executing on the product specification with the development and delivery of a fully packaged product
- Work with third party vendors who will package the product.
- Develop procedures to safely operate and interface with the product.
- Meticulously document key findings and all aspects of tests and experiments
- Work independently with guidance from the senior engineers
- Contribute innovative ideas to improve not only the product, but also the work place and company culture

Travel Requirements:

Candidate must be willing to travel domestically and internationally at least one week a month to support pilot product deployment and field testing

Basic Required Skills:

- A sense of dauntless adventure and unbridled optimism
- 4-6 years engineering experience and a bachelors degree in an appropriate discipline
- Strong sense of self-motivation and ability to work independently
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and team work skills
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM tools, and ability to create and read technical drawings
- Experience managing third party vendors
- Likes working with their hands
- Experience interpreting standards and certification guidelines in the product development process

Desired Skills/Experience (Should have 2 of the ones listed below)

- 2-5 years of experience with oil field equipment
- 2-5 years of experience oil field services
- Familiarity with many of the following field standards: API, UL, NEMA, IEEE, ASME, NACE
- Previous experience in a start-up environment
- Experience in gas turbine packaging
