Signal Processing & Algorithm Development Engineer, PainQx Company

Reports to Vice President, Research and Development

Key Tasks
• Technical leadership within the PainQx development team regarding signal processing and algorithm development.
• Clear, frequent written and oral communication with the PainQx Management Team.
• Responsible for artifact detection algorithm development for identifying and flagging artifacts in EEG waveforms due to eye movement, EMG, etc.
• Development of algorithms for objective assessment of pain based on EEG waveforms.
• Development of EEG feature selection strategies, feature formulations, regression equations, discriminant functions, and performance metrics in support of algorithm development and optimization.
• Statistical analysis of clinical data to support algorithm development.
• Close collaboration with team members working on the collection and management of clinical data.
• Close collaboration with medical strategic partners, including the NYU School of Medicine Brain Research Laboratory.
• Help in preparation of journal publications.
• Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements
• Ph.D. or Masters in Computer Science, Neurophysiology, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field with an emphasis on signal processing, algorithm development and/or statistical analysis.
• 5+ years of experience with SAS, data processing, database programming, analytics and machine learning.
• Experience with programming languages such as Python.
• Excellent pattern recognition and predictive modeling skills.
• Experience with applications of quantitative electrophysiology desired, with exposure to specific neurological conditions a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and work with minimal technical direction.
• Operate effectively in a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented culture.

• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
