Nonhealing leg wounds affect approximately 1 million people in the United States annually. Treatment consists of moist wound care, compression dressing, encouragement of the patient to walk and elevate the wounded leg when sitting. Healing a nonhealing leg wound is a long process taking six months and requiring 25 to 50 dressing changes. We have built a working prototype that records patient activity compliance and alerts wound dressing status at home during the time between dressing changes.
